Home and Happy!

Hi everyone,
Well, my best laid plans for posting yesterday dissolved once I got the word that she was out of surgery and in recovery. We got to go in while she was still sleeping, so we were there when she woke up.
The surgery was successful, and unlike 10 years ago, they were able to test the reliability and reaction of the auditory nerve before they closed her up. The nerve is still viable and responded to initial stimulation...which is GREAT news. You never know, after not being stimulated for 10 years, whether or not the nerve is still "working." Now, it will be a matter of what the brain will do with the sound it gets.
We hung out in the recovery room for a few hours, got her up, dressed and ready to head for home. She was an amazing trouper and was quite happy to see her brothers when we arrived in Chico around 5:30.

FINALLY HOME....much happier!

Now, it's rest and recouperate until we head back for our first mapping: April 29th. We'll know more at that appointment, and will certainly continue blogging about it!

Yippee! Michelle! you look totally hip girlfriend! :-) I may wear a pink head wrap today--just to be twins! (why should the boys have all the twin fun?!!) I'm glad you're up and about--but take it easy--make your mom buy all kinds of ice cream! and watch lots of tv.
Can't wait to see you--love Lynn

Thanks so much for keeping us informed about Michelle. We knew you were a "trouper" for a long time! Good for you, Michelle. Make sure you rest and relax and take all the TLC around you with open arms. You deserve it! Hope to see you soon. Until then, take care and say hello to your mom and brothers for us. Love, Lindy and Megan Loy

Hey Michelle!! WOW! You have made it and that makes me happy to know that, you are a big trooper yourself!! Congratulations on the cochlear implant and hopefully it will work when you go into mapping with your new and second cochlear implant! I would have never have that much courage than you did, because if I had surgery, I would be really scared!!! Again, congrats and I hope that I can see you soon again too!!
